So, its a bad day. Somehow, you broke the battery / SD card door on the bottom of your Olympus PEN digital camera.
There is a fix.
I bought a PEN E-PM1 on EBay. When it showed up the camera itself was in “Like New” condition! But the battery door had fallen off and was in the box.
I contacted the seller and they offered a very generous discount if I kept it. I did. Figured I’d fix it or just use a piece of tape to keep it in place.
Here’s how:
First, your battery door must be intact. If the hinge pins are broken off, you are out of luck for this fix. But it might actually be easier for you to just buy a replacement door and install it.
If the pins are intact, but the place they attach to the body of the camera is broken, replacement parts and the ability to replace them might be a real challenge.
Here are the “pins” I’m talking about:

And here is the broken area on the camera:

First step is to coat the hinge area of the cover with a thin layer of some type of grease or Vaseline. Even cooking oil would work. This will be a release agent for the next stop.
On the camera, using alcohol and a Q-Tip, clean the broken area thoroughly.
Mix up a very small amount of JB Weld two part adhesive, available at any hardware store.
Put the battery door with the release agent back in place, and using a tooth pick or a tiny screw driver, fil the void there the pin resided with the JB Weld.
Let it cure overnight.
If you applied the release agent well enough, the door should operate like new……If you didn’t, well, you might have to leave the SD card and the battery in place and use USB for charging and downloading, if your camera has this option.

Hope this helps someone that finds themselves in this dilemma….
