STARTLINK MINI MODIFICATIONS

A few modifications to improve the set up and transportation of Starlink Mini

I wasn’t satisfied with how the pole mount attaches to the antenna. Sometimes difficult to remove and eventually the locking tab broke off.

The solution was a couple threaded inserts and 1/4×20 bolts with plastic knobs and rubber tips

The threaded inserts are available at any woodworking or hardware store. A 3/8″ hole is drilled into the mount and the inserts screwed in.

Next we fabricate a couple locking bolts using 1/4×20 bolts, a couple knobs epoxied onto the head and a couple automotive vacuum caps.

If you haven’t broken off the locking tab like I did. Simply cut it off with a hack saw.

And you’re done! Much easier to remove and I tested it in very strong ocean front wind and it held fast.

Next was some way to safely transport the whole kit and caboodle.

Harbor Freight store has excellent quality waterproof cases under the “Apache” brand. A model 3800 was selected.

Along with the Starlink Mini and all its accessories, I also have a Starlink Router Mini WiFi extender, a TP Link EAP110-Outdoor V3, Omada N300 Wireless Outdoor Access Point and various cables and connectors and tripod mount.

All nice and secured

Hope this helps others that might need these solutions….

Thanks
