I built a simple barrel sanding device that mounts on my lathe and using power feed, it simply sands a barrel to whatever grit I have loaded in the sander.
Sander was bought at Harbor Freight for under $50. A bracket was fabricated from angle iron to position it as shown. Vacumn cleaner attaches to remove grit.
Does a fantastic job in 1/10th the time it would take using other methods.
